Can a Futures Exchange Change the Standardized Terms Mid-Contract?

Generally, no. The standardized terms of a futures contract, such as the contract size and expiration date, are fixed at the time of listing to ensure market integrity.

However, in extraordinary circumstances (e.g. a corporate action like a stock split for equity futures), the exchange may adjust the contract terms to maintain its economic value.
