Can Smart Contracts Eliminate Counterparty Risk in a Crypto Trade?

Smart contracts can significantly reduce counterparty risk by automating the execution and settlement of a trade in a trustless, pre-programmed manner. They enforce the agreed-upon terms without the need for a third-party intermediary.

However, they do not eliminate all risk, as smart contract code can contain bugs (code risk) or be subject to external oracle failures (oracle risk).
