Explain the Concept of “Open Interest” in Derivatives.

Open Interest is the total number of outstanding futures or options contracts that have not yet been closed, exercised, or expired. It represents the total amount of money committed to the market and is a measure of market liquidity and depth.

Unlike trading volume, which measures the number of contracts traded in a period, Open Interest reflects the total number of active contracts.
