How Can a Trader Hedge against High Funding Rate Risk?

A trader can hedge against high funding rate risk by simultaneously opening an opposite position in the spot market or a traditional futures contract with a fixed expiry. For a long perpetual position with a high positive funding rate, the trader could short the equivalent amount in the spot market.

The funding payment cost would then be offset by the gains or losses in the spot hedge, neutralizing the risk.
