How Does the Mempool Relate to a Miner’s Selection of Transactions?

The mempool (memory pool) is a waiting area for unconfirmed transactions. When a transaction is broadcast to the network, it enters the mempool of various nodes.

Miners select transactions from their local mempool to construct a new block. They typically prioritize transactions with the highest fee-to-size ratio to maximize the total fees earned within the block's size limit.

The mempool acts as the primary source of work for the miner.
