How Does the Transition to Proof-of-Stake Affect MEV on the Ethereum Network?

The transition to Proof-of-Stake (PoS) on Ethereum fundamentally changed MEV from being "Miner" Extractable Value to "Validator" Extractable Value (VEV). While the underlying profit motive remains, the mechanism changes from a computational race to a capital-based one.

The process is now managed by block proposers (validators) and builders. The MEV searchers still exist, but the extraction is now governed by the PoS consensus rules and the staking process.
