What Is a ‘Nonce’ in the Context of Block Mining and Share Validation?

A nonce (Number Once) is a 32-bit field in the block header that miners increment and change for every hash attempt. Its purpose is to create a new, unique hash value for the block header each time.

The nonce is the variable that miners manipulate until they find a hash that meets the network's or the pool's difficulty target, thereby solving the puzzle.
