What Is a ‘Replace-by-Fee’ (RBF) Transaction?

Replace-by-Fee (RBF) is a protocol feature that allows a sender to broadcast a new version of an unconfirmed transaction with the same inputs but a higher fee. This is useful if the original transaction is stuck in the mempool due to a low fee.

The network's nodes will replace the old transaction with the new, higher-fee version, encouraging faster confirmation.
