What Is a “Seed Phrase” and Its Relation to Private Keys?

A seed phrase (or recovery phrase) is a sequence of 12 to 24 words that serves as the master backup for all the private keys associated with a cryptocurrency wallet. It is generated using a standard like BIP39.

If a user loses access to their wallet, the seed phrase can be used to regenerate all the private keys and restore access to the funds on any compatible wallet software.
