What Is “Flare Gas Mining” and Its Environmental Benefit?

Flare gas mining is the practice of capturing and utilizing natural gas that would otherwise be wastefully burned (flared) at oil production sites to generate electricity for crypto mining. This process reduces the emission of methane, a potent greenhouse gas, by converting it into less harmful carbon dioxide through combustion in a generator.

Economically, it turns a waste product into a revenue stream for both the oil producer and the miner.
