What Is the Concept of ‘Segregated Accounts’ in Financial Custody?

Segregated accounts mean that client assets are held separately from the custodian's own assets and from the assets of other clients. This ensures that if the custodian faces financial difficulty or bankruptcy, the client's assets are protected and cannot be seized by the custodian's creditors.

This is a fundamental requirement for institutional trust.
