What Is the Difference between an Attestation and a Full Audit of Stablecoin Reserves?

An attestation is a limited assurance report, usually issued monthly, where an accounting firm verifies the stablecoin issuer's claims about the existence and amount of reserve assets at a specific point in time. It offers less certainty and does not confirm the quality, liquidity, or legal ownership of the assets.

A full audit is a comprehensive, in-depth examination of the financial statements and internal controls over a period, providing a higher level of assurance on the stablecoin's backing, but is typically conducted less frequently.
