What Is the Difference between Delegated PoS (DPoS) and Pure PoS?

In pure PoS, participants directly run a validator node by staking their coins. In Delegated Proof-of-Stake (DPoS), coin holders vote for a limited number of delegates (witnesses) who then run the validation nodes.

DPoS allows for faster transaction speeds but introduces a degree of centralization due to the smaller set of active validators.
