What Is the Difference between Proof-of-Work and Proof-of-Stake in Security?
Proof-of-Work (PoW) secures the network through energy-intensive computation (mining), making a 51% attack prohibitively expensive due to hardware and electricity costs. Proof-of-Stake (PoS) secures the network by requiring validators to lock up (stake) a significant amount of the native coin.
An attacker would need to acquire and risk 51% of the total staked coins, making the attack economically destructive to themselves.
