What Is the Impact of a Circuit Breaker Activation on Open Limit Orders?

When a circuit breaker (especially a trading halt) is activated, all open limit orders typically remain in the order book but cannot be executed until the halt is lifted. In the case of a price limit being hit, limit orders outside the new allowable range are often automatically canceled or adjusted.

Traders must re-evaluate their positions and resubmit orders once trading resumes or the price stabilizes within the new limits.
