What Is the Key Difference between an Option on Spot Crypto and an Option on a Crypto Future?

An option on spot crypto gives the holder the right to buy or sell the actual cryptocurrency at the strike price. An option on a crypto future gives the holder the right to enter a long or short position in a crypto futures contract at the strike price.

The underlying asset for the first is the crypto itself; for the second, it is a futures contract.
