What Is the Legal Concept of ‘Past Consideration’?

Past consideration is an act that was performed before the contract was formed. Legally, past consideration is not considered valid consideration because it was not bargained for in the current exchange.

For a contract to be valid, the consideration must be given at the time the contract is made or in the future.
