What Is the Maximum Loss for the Buyer of an OTM Put Option?

The maximum loss for the buyer of any option, including an OTM put option, is limited to the premium paid to acquire the contract. Since the option grants a right, not an obligation, the buyer can simply let the option expire worthless if the underlying asset price does not move favorably.

The loss is capped at the initial cost.
