What Is the ‘Mempool’ in Cryptocurrency?

The mempool (memory pool) is a waiting area for unconfirmed transactions. When a transaction is broadcast to the network, it sits in the mempool of various nodes until a miner selects it to include in a block.

Transactions with higher fees are typically prioritized by miners for inclusion from the mempool.
