What Is the Primary Function of a Call Option in Options Trading?

A Call Option gives the buyer the right, but not the obligation, to purchase an underlying asset at a specified price, called the strike price, on or before the expiration date. Buyers use them to speculate on a rising asset price or to hedge against a short position.

The option seller is obligated to sell if the buyer exercises their right.
