What Is the Primary Role of a Crypto Option Seller (Writer)?

The primary role of a crypto option seller, also known as a writer, is to create and sell the options contract to a buyer. In exchange for an upfront payment called a premium, the writer takes on the obligation to fulfill the other side of the trade if the buyer exercises their option.

For a call option, the writer must sell the underlying crypto at the strike price. For a put option, the writer must buy the crypto at the strike price.

Their main goal is to earn income from the premium, hoping the option expires worthless.
