What Is the Relationship between Cascading Liquidation and the “Long-Short Ratio”?

The long-short ratio indicates the relative sentiment and positioning of traders. A highly skewed ratio (e.g. heavily long) means many traders are betting on a price rise.

If the price moves sharply down, the large number of long positions will be liquidated, creating massive, cascading sell pressure that accelerates the spiral.
