What Is the Role of a Transaction Mempool in Enabling Front-Running?

The mempool is the staging area for unconfirmed transactions waiting to be added to the blockchain. Front-runners monitor the mempool for profitable transactions (like large trades or liquidations).

By seeing the details of a pending transaction, they can calculate their profitable trade and submit a copy of the transaction with a higher gas fee to ensure their transaction is included in the next block first.
