Who Are “Searchers” in the Context of MEV and What Role Do They Play?

Searchers are specialized, often automated, entities (usually bots) that monitor the blockchain mempool for profitable MEV opportunities. They construct and submit bundles of transactions, typically involving arbitrage, liquidations, or front-running, to extract this value.

They then bid against each other to have their bundles included by the block builder, paying a portion of their profit as a bribe.
