Who Initiates the Slashing Process?
The slashing process is typically initiated by other honest validators on the network. When an honest validator detects evidence of a malicious act, such as a double-sign, they submit a 'slashing proof' to the blockchain.
The protocol's logic then automatically executes the penalty on the offending validator's stake.

Honest Validators
Integrity ⎊ Honest validators are network participants in Proof of Stake or similar consensus systems who faithfully follow the protocol rules, accurately validate transactions, and contribute to network security.
Validator
Role ⎊ A validator is a critical network participant in a Proof-of-Stake blockchain responsible for proposing, verifying, and attesting to new blocks of transactions to maintain consensus and secure the distributed ledger.
