Why Is the “Risk-Free Interest Rate” Assumption Difficult in Crypto Options?

The risk-free interest rate assumption is challenging in crypto because a truly risk-free asset is hard to define in the decentralized space. Traditional models use government bond yields, but in crypto, proxies like stablecoin lending rates are sometimes used.

These rates, however, carry counterparty and platform risk, making them not truly "risk-free."
